Just a short drive from Santana, where those traditional houses slay the Instagram game, Queimadas is a lush paradise you can't miss. Hit it in the morning – the road's narrow, and passing cars ain't a breeze. Your adventure kicks off with dope houses sporting thatched roofs. One's a cute café with killer homemade cakes, and the other is a traditions museum. Plus, there are mini Santana houses with geese and ducks for the kiddos. Take a 200m stroll, dive into the forest, and say peace out to civilization. Families, you can wander a bit, then head back if the road gets tricky for the little ones. Adventurers can roll all the way to Caldeirao Verde – just check that weather first. Trust me, sunny days are the move. This 7km trail (4 hours of walking) is a dream for exotic flora and fauna fans, showcasing many of Madeira's endemic plants. Cruise through 4 tunnels, soak in the scenery, and bam, you hit Caldeirao Verde at almost 1000m altitude.
