Rocha do Navio
So, Santana's traditional houses get swarmed by tourists, but surprisingly, Rocha do Navio doesn't get as much love. Let's hope it stays kinda off the beaten path to dodge the tourist overload. This cable car at Rocha do Navio is legit my fave on the island. But even if you skip the cable car, the view from the top is jaw-dropping. And if you're feeling the adventure, heading down gives you more waterfalls to check out. Quick deets: North Coast, Santana – a breezy 40-min drive from Funchal. Hit up the smaller road; it's chill. Carpark's tiny – if it's full, snag a spot along the houses. Open from 9 am to 1 pm and then 2 pm to 5 pm (6 pm on weekends). It's 5€ for a round trip – cash only. Toilets are up top, and the ride takes just 5 mins. Easy peasy!
