Porto da Cruz

Porto da Cruz is my go-to spot on the North Coast – it's got that local vibe that I love. Forget the South Coast; this place is where it's at, even if the weather's a bit moodier. Check out the killer views from the seafront promenade – you've got the Penha de Aguia mountain on one side and the cliffs leading to Ponta de Sao Lourenço on the other. It's pure magic. Plus, there's a seawater pool and an old sugar cane factory vibe. Here's the lowdown: North Coast, just a 15-min drive from Machico or 30 mins from Funchal. Easy peasy to get there – take the east drive, close to the fast road exit. Quick tips: Pack your swimsuit for beach and seawater pool action (small fee, but worth it). I stayed in this chill village – super practical for all the sweet hikes and attractions on the East side. Highly recommend it!
